Top 5 Island FAQ’s


#1 What to bring with me?
Proof of Citizenship: A passport must be shown to Bahamas Immigration to enter the Bahamas.

Special Articles: Bring all prescription drugs or medications used and insurance card, sunscreens in varying strengths, insect repellant, camera, flashlight, hand held VHF & GPS if you have them.

Beach Gear: Bring Beach Bag, beach towels, reading books, water shoes, cover-ups, hats, sunglasses, sandals, flip flops, your own snorkeling, scuba and/or fishing gear. Diving & fishing equipment can also be rented locally click for details.

Clothing: Casual clothes although you may want one nice outfit to go out a night and step it up a I would also suggest  bring a light weight jacket or rain slicker for boat outings. You can check the local forecast before packing just to be on the safe side!

Groceries:
Every island has a mini mart and on Great Abaco you will find a few super marts. Beef is expensive so you may want to bring that along and beer is $35+ per case , you can bring 12 beers per adult. Wine and rum is very in expensive so no need to bring that with you. The groceries are often closed part day on Sundays and holidays so fi you are arriving on one of those days it may be best to bring a small supply with you. Seasons are another great and easy thing to pack as many homes come with your basic salt & pepper!

2. Does My US Cellular phone work in Abaco? 
Our local phone provider is Batelco also known as BTC Bahamas Telecommunications. GSM and TDMA both work on the island but some spots have poor reception, however you may want to check with your phone service carrier to see if it will indeed work on our island and find out what the roaming chargers are.. (Batelco) Phone Cards are also available locally and can be used at your home's phone. Another way to stay in touch is many of the homes are now offering a VOIP connection (voice over internet provider) so you may have a free long distance calling connection available at your home so please check with one of our reservations agents and they can confirm the type of service available in your rental home.
3. Will I have internet access? 
Again this is becoming a VERY popular request so most homes are now making it a standard so check with us to se which homes have connections available and pricing. Bring your lap top or wireless device though as there are some hot spots for free connections, and internet cafes and paid wireless services available that we can help arrange for you. 

4. What’s the night life like?
Almost all of the restaurants have live bands or soloists for your entertainment, especially on the weekends from December- August. There are also a lot of night time festivals and other celebrations throughout the year be sure to check our event calendar to know what’s happening during your stay.

5. Is there Medical Care available?
Marsh Harbour has a government clinic as well as three private doctor offices. There are also two pharmacies that can fill U.S. Prescriptions located in Marsh Harbour. And over the counter drugs are available at all grocery stores.
If you are staying on our of our out island homes, be sure to take your prescription medications along with you as there are no pharmacies and the clinics are only open 1 day a week. All of the out island do have trained volunteers in CPR and First Aid to assist in case of an emergency. Don’t forget your insurance card!
